New features

New software option Sister tools under DATRON next

Function for monitoring tool life on the machine. In addition to displaying the wear values, worn tools can be automatically exchanged for unused ones during machining. This allows you to produce long milling programs without manual interruption due to necessary tool changes.
Activating this option is very simple and no adaptation of the milling program is required.
If this option is active, the system checks whether a replacement tool is to be inserted, always during a programmed tool change and at other optional points.

Note:
To use this function it is necessary to purchase an additional license key. For further details please contact your sales contact…

New software option: Multiple execution

Software function that makes it very easy to produce a milling program several times in a row. This allows you to easily produce several identical workpieces from a single blank, or to execute a program at different positions (zero points).

A multiple execution can be set up on the machine in seconds without having to adapt the milling program in the editor.

Note:
To use this feature, you must purchase a license key. Please contact your sales representative for further details.

User catalog in tool management

A user-specific tool catalog is now available. Here you can store your own tool types with individual parameters that are not available in the DATRON tool catalog.

You can use these types to create tools in the magazine or warehouse at any time.

Tool types created there are not deleted if tools based on them are removed from the magazine or warehouse.

The search function considers subfolders

The search function has been extended and can now also find programs in other subfolders. Until now it was limited to filtering in the open folder. In order for the cross-folder search to work, the input of the search word must be confirmed with the Enter key or the magnifying glass symbol to the right of the input field must be pressed.

Please note that the search may take a while. Especially if it is executed on connected network drives. During the search a waiting dialog appears and at the end a hit list with the found programs. From the hit list you can easily jump directly to the desired program.

Creating a ToolDescription in the editor

For a tool check to be performed for a program, a tool description must be contained in the header of the program. From now on, this description can be conveniently created in the editor via a graphical input dialog.

Creating workpiece geometry in the editor

For the graphical representation of the bounding box of the workpiece in the 3D simulation, the workpiece geometry (WorkpieceGeometry) must be defined in the ModuleHeader of the underlying milling program.

When programming in the editor, this can now be done very easily using an easy-to-understand input mask.

Search function in the workpiece management

The search function is now also available in the workpiece management. This allows you to find your stored workpiece origins quickly and easily.

Function to calibrate the camera in the settings

Under certain circumstances it may be necessary to recalibrate the camera of the machine, for example to achieve better positioning accuracy during camera measurement. The required functions are now available in the DATRON next settings. These can be found under :
Settings > Configuration > Setup > Set up camera

Display of the program path in the user interface

For better recognition of program names, the path of the program (the folder name in which the program is stored) is now also displayed in various places. For example on the tile program administration on the HomeScreen or in the RunScreen in the area left above the simulation picture.

Measurement of rotation in the measurement cycles "symmetry" and "edge"

The two measuring cycles edge and symmetry have been extended by one option. This allows you to set in the measurement cycle that only the value of the rotation is accepted. After the measuring cycle has been completed, only the rotation of the workpiece is set and not its zero point in space.

This is helpful for complex components where it is not possible to measure the position and rotation in one go. For example, if a circle measurement has to be made first to determine the position of the origin and later the orientation is to be determined on another contour.

Display of the vacuum value on the home screen

In order to have an even better view of the vacuum value, it is now also available on the homescreen in the Vacuum tile.

Note:
Please note that the value can only be displayed on machines equipped with a DATRON vacuum distributor.

Using the manual control panel when the message dialog is active

When developing milling programs in the editor, it is sometimes necessary to program an input dialog that is displayed to the machine operator during program execution (e.g. when notifications have to be confirmed). From now on it is possible to design these dialogs in such a way that the manual control panel can be used during this time.

Example:
result=Dialog message=any Yes=true No=true Ok=true Cancel=true severity=DialogSeverity.InputDialog caption=any activateManualMode=true

New programming commands in the editor

The functionality of the next programming language has been extended by several modules.

  • DateTimeModule
  • Math
  • Axis system
  • File Operations

This means that new programming commands are now available to you.

New sample files in the Samples folder of the program manager

New sample files are available in the FileModule and StringModule folders of the program administration (in the “Samples” folder). These are intended to illustrate the use of new programming commands.

Attention:
In order to be able to use these, you must start the function “Reset to default values”. Please make sure that you save your G-Code wrapper first if you have made any changes to it.

PathCorrection can be used together with RadiusCorrection

Until now, the two commands could not be used together and when PathCorrection was activated, RadiusCorrection was deactivated, which made operation unnecessarily difficult.
